I know remixes/mash ups may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s the coolest part about them: you can do it for any genre. So no excuses for hatin’, people! Sure, it was cool once it started. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to trace its roots, of course, but when it made its way into a commercial for HP products, I knew it had reached the end of its novelty period. But, of course, that hasn’t stopped bands from still using this technique to tunnel into different takes.

In Case You Didn’t Get Fucked Up Enough Last Night

My still hungover-self was flipping channels when I came across an NYC-TV music video lineup. Watching the following video, I was so transported to a world of 90s riffs and green-screened dolphins that I thought, “These guys were SO HIP for their time!”. And then I Googled them: 2007. Snap, I fail.
