Celeb Sighting: Perry Ullmann on the N

Why oh why am I cursed with the ability to attract and detect Bravo reality TV celebs? Last Saturday, riding the N (late night) from Park Slope uptown, who should sit across from me but Perry Ullman of Make Me a Supermodel Fame? One day I’ll score someone like Beck, I promise.

Bravo is Back in My Life

Actually Bravo never left, and god willing, it never will. It’s like the marshmallow fluff in my TV-watching schedule (where Seinfeld is the protein-filled peanut butter): perhaps it is just sugar and empty calories, but goddamn is it good. Like I would never make it a point to go out of my way to eat marshmallow fluff, but if someone put a bucket of it in front of me, who am I to not inhale it like life-giving oxygen?? And while it’s true that I spend way too much time watching Bravo in between meaningful programming (damn you, Real Housewives of New York!) Bravo has made the leap from reality TV to just plain reality. I had gone quite awhile without seeing a Bravo “celeb” (after a rash of Top Chef contestant sightings in the Spring) until last week when I rode the F train next to Stella Zotis from this season of Project Runway (the leather queen with the boyfriend named Rat Bones). And just last night, I spotted Perry Ullmann (skeet!!) from Make Me a Supermodel. Almost no one watched that show, but I was obsessed with it, and even cut off all my hair after being inspired by one of the model’s haircuts. And while she did end up the winning model, I daily regret this haircut decision (because I am not the winning model. Or a model.) I can only hope that Perry reads this post like Holly read and even commented on the one Olivia wrote about her, after she was spat upon (figuratively, of course) for being lost in Union Square.

My point is this: there is no point, except that I watch way too much fucking reality TV. And, after seeing what seems like 90% of the people who have ever been on a Bravo show, I’m starting to think Time Warner may be using radiation or microwaves to read my mind or something. This is turning into “Zoolander,” I can just feel it. Stop following me Bravo! Get out of my head!! Or give me a job. Make up your mind.

When A Cliché Becomes, Well, Cliché

This will be familiar to anyone who’s spent time watching reality television.  It’s a phrase that could only exist in the weird, pseudo-real-life of competition shows like America’s Next Top Model or Flavor of Love, and just in the past couple years, it’s become a hallmark of the genre.  Rich over at fourfour lovingly assembled this montage as a tribute to the mind-numbing, brilliant theatrics of reality tv.
