FUCK. YES.

HALLELUJAH!

Googly-Eyes.com would just like to say how fucking relieved we are.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

EDIT: I just wanted to tack Obama’s victory speech on here, because it merits repeat viewings:

In Case You Missed It

This election and Sarah Palin in specific are the best thing to ever happen to SNL. And gosh darnit, I sure am going to miss Amy Poehler when she leaves to be Will Arnett’s full-time baby mama. This skit is definitely among their finest work of the last 5 years, and the only regretful thing about it is that it kinda makes me like Sarah Palin. What are you doing, SNL!? Stay strong!!

VP Debate: Not Live-Blogging, But Live-Blagging

So I just watched the VP debate and would’ve been “live-blogging” during it, expressing my outrage in real time, but I have a desktop computer that’s in another room than my TV. Obviously, no one on this site is a Sarah Palin fan and this debate wasn’t going to do anything to change my mind – in fact, I was greatly looking forward to it in anticipation of her crashing and burning. But anyway, I don’t want to make this too long because I’ll probably end up repeating myself and barfing all over my shoes, but let me share the general overtone of this event with the following video, if you didn’t catch it live.

I swear to God, this skit was so completely accurate, almost frighteningly so. But for me, Palin doesn’t become “adorable” on-camera so much as she becomes a “deceitful cunt.” (Jon’s reaction to Sarah Palin? “She keeps lying!” Why is it okay for this woman to lie?! Is it because she’s attractive? Why isn’t anyone fact-checking this shit?! Anyone with the internet and opposable thumbs can Google her and find out that her record is chock full of instances involving unethical firings, excessive spending, and insane beliefs involving the secession of Alaska, witch doctors, and the existence of dinosaurs!!) Or maybe she’s just been misinformed. Her blatant pandering to the American public (“average Joes and working moms”) was deplorable and disgusting, considering none of her stances would benefit the very people she is trying to persuade (or, “fool,” if you will.)

Let’s Talk Politics

I know this is on everyone’s minds, and I just had to post about it. Since John McCain nominated Sarah Palin as his pick for VP, this lady’s been hard to avoid. I didn’t know who she was until Betty brought her up to me last week, saying, quote, “She’s a monster!” I’ve done a little research since then and found out some disturbing things about the woman who would be “one heartbeat away” from the presidency should John McCain win the election.

But first thing’s first, the elephant in the room: am I going to talk about how her 17-year old daughter is pregnant? Yes, but only to say that the attention being paid to this “scandal” is only hurting liberals, because while yes, I suppose her daughter’s actions are something of a reflection on her, there are way more important things that should concern you about Sarah Palin. Teenagers make mistakes and get pregnant and yada yada yada, but this girl isn’t running for a powerful political office, her mother is, and targeting the teen mom-to-be in the media just makes the Palins into victims, and subsequently heroes and martyrs for so  bravely upholding their pro-life values in the face of such staunch adversity and media frenzy. The teen pregnancy debaucle is just inspiring sympathy for Palin and distracting voters from the real issues and her  qualifications (or lack thereof). Obama is right to say that people’s “children are especially off-limits,” and the politics should be kept to the candidates, their platforms, and their previous records. And personally, I do have a lot to say on the high schooler’s unplanned pregnancy and the shotgun wedding that will follow, but that’s not politics and it doesn’t belong here.
