Zombieland= Best Movie of the Year (probably)

I love zombies. My mother loves Woody Harelson. Combined, Zombieland is the epitome of mother/daughter bonding.

When the zombocalypse basically turns the globe into a clusterfuck of unexplained consequences, Jesse Eisenberg, playing the stereotypical geeky/cute/feminine male is one of the few left standing. Following rules like #2 (Check seatbelts), #17(Don’t be a hero), and #32 (Enjoy the Little Things), he’s able to be one of the last few Americans surviving. Which is lucky for us, because we really like him.

Instead of throwing money at special effects, Zombieland used it big budget in sensitive, original ways. Things like epic car crashes and human gore were skimmed over, but scenes like demented ferris wheel rides and kicking the shit out of Bill Murray (yes, that’s right, Billy Murray) were much appreciated.

This movie not only explained how Miley Cyrus works (she’s only Hannah Montana when wearing the wig), it also had a TWENTY MINUTE GHOSTBUSTER TRIBUTE. TWENTY MINUTES!!! It’s like Zombieland is one big joke, tailor-made for this little Parkranger here. All I can say is that if you enjoy this blog, you will enjoy this movie and it’s very pop culture savvy sense of humor.

An important thing about Zombieland is, I should mention, its use of titling. I hinted at “The Rules” Jesse Eisenberg’s character follows, but The Rules themselves seem to be a key character in the film. Every time Jesse vanquishes a zombie, we see invasive titling pop up on screen, almost like comic relief. It’s awesome, it’s clever, and it’s way better than the ones Fringe vomits all over the place.

Lastly,  Zombieland is excellent because it has something in it for everyone. Hatred of Clowns, Quests for Twinkies, a Hot Chick, Demented Carnival Music, and, of course, KICK ASS SLOW MOTION SEQUENCES. It is the best date movie, family film, frat feature and slumberparty lipgloss experience possible. But, really, I’m just a cog. A cog in the wheel of zombie love:

I’m reading “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” right now… It seems like pop culture is really rife with the unmentionables right now. I think this movie looks pretty kick-ass, and Jesse Eisenberg is a hottie.
