Celeb Sighting: Gideon Yago, Why Must you Taunt Me?

It’s official people: Gideon Yago MUST live in the East Village. Yesterday was the second time I’ve seen him, and good lord, I only have so many dry panties from my bi-weekly laundromat pilgrimages!

I knew it was him as soon as I was crossing Second Ave, spotting his trademark black rimmed glasses, and, what was that? A bit of gray hair?

While I did want to shout “You were the only reason I watched MTV, Gideon!”, I actually worked up the nerve to flash him a shy smile. And guess what? I THINK HE SMILED BACK.

The last time I saw him, it was in the exact same spot a couple of months ago. I remember being on the phone with a friend who went to Egypt for MTV as a guest VJ, when I glanced Gideon walking my way with an Astor Place Wine bag. “Brian!”, I hissed into my cell, “I JUST WALKED BY GIDEON YAGO!”. “Who?” He replied. “Gideon Yago! The man who pioneered your current VJ occupation!”. “Oh. Never heard of him.” Suckers. All of you.

It’s okay. As you guys can see from earlier posts, I celebrate Gideon’s awesomeness in solitude. He may have retired from shitty pop-culture broadcasting, but I can’t wait til the day people celebrate him for his post-MTV journalism, Columbia degree and all.

You’ll stay cute to me forever, Mr. Yago.
